Kevin Quigley

Teacher, French

M.A (Hons) French Language and Literature – University of Glasgow, Glasgow, Scotland

Kevin Quigley grew up in Northern Ireland and earned his Master’s Degree in French Language and Literature at the University of Glasgow, Scotland. In addition to French, he has studied German, Italian and Spanish. He has also received a diploma in Icelandic from the University of Iceland and a certificate in Korean from the Korean government.

He has experienced first-hand how languages can open the world to us in unexpected ways: he has worked in an alpine village in Switzerland, at a riad in Morocco, and with refugees in France. He has given walking tours of Reykjavík, hiked all of Korea’s national parks, and traveled across Russia on the Trans-Siberian railway.

He believes that everyone is capable of acquiring a second – or third! – language. Rather than teaching lists of vocabulary and grammar that no one is going to remember, he prefers to teach communicatively.

He wants his students to know and use French, not just to know about French.
When not in the classroom, he enjoys reading and writing, running and hiking, and waiting patiently for Eurovision to start again.
