Teacher, Science

I love teaching science and have been for over a decade. It is important since science is all around us, a solid understanding is vital for all global citizens, and it is truly awesome. I have taught middle school, Earth and space systems, environmental science, ocean studies, biology, and other courses.

I grew up in Massachusetts and then lived in Maine for twelve years. I then moved to New Hampshire to be closer to family and begin at Founders. I hold a B.S. Environmental Science from Unity College, M.S. Ecological Teaching and Learning from Lesley University, and am professionally certified in Maine and New Hampshire. I also own and operate Stone & Fire Pizza, a wood-fired pizza catering business, with my husband.

My educational passion is citizen science. You will be doing real, authentic science research as well as traditional class activities. Professionally, before joining the Founders community, I was an education consultant for the Maine Data Literacy Project and a board member of the Maine Science Teachers Association. I also have benefitted from continued professional development opportunities that partner with my love of travel. This has included interacting with endangered leatherback sea turtles in Costa Rica, working on a fisheries research vessel for NOAA Teacher at Sea Program, digging dinosaur fossils in Montana, working as a Teacher-Ranger-Teacher at Acadia National Park, and more!
