OPEN POSITIONS


Anticipated Opening:  English/History Middle School Teacher Full-Time for the 2019-2020 School Year

The Founders Academy Public Charter School seeks a teacher of middle school English and history.  In English, experience, creativity, and passion for the writing process, grammar, and project-based learning, as well as a love of literature are essential.   In history, an in-depth knowledge of American history is required. The English and history curricula align with the mission of the school, which is to develop citizens and leaders, who are knowledgeable about America’s founding principles and history and who will make informed decisions to preserve our liberty.  This is a unique opportunity for a qualified educator to participate in challenging and meaningful curriculum, which emphasizes writing, project-based learning and enthusiasm for the subject matter in a school where teacher initiative and creativity is paramount. Teaching experience, a passion for the subject, and the ability to work well in a collaborative environment are desirable. Special Education Coordinator and Counselor

The Special Education Coordinator and Counselor will act as a facilitator to support academic, social, behavioral and emotional growth of students. In addition to school counseling responsibilities, the Special Education Coordinator and Counselor’s primary responsibilities will be coordinating 504 Plans and School Health Plans for students in grades 6 - 12. 

Qualifications:

- Certified or eligible for certification as a School Counselor in NH.
- Masters Degree in School Counseling
- Experience working with middle and high school students
- Strong individual and group counseling skills.
- Experience writing and coordinating 504 Plans and Health Plans
- Strong understanding of 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973
- Understanding of 504 Plans, Health Plans, and Civil Rights legislation as it applies to students in schools
- Familiarity with the Orton-Gillingham Approach, preferred. 

Responsibilities:

- Oversee all 504 and Health Plans for eligible students 
- Facilitate all 504 meetings as well as all aspects of the eligibility process
- Maintain regular ongoing communication with parents and teachers of students with 504 and Health Plans
- Write 504 Plans based on documentation, parent, teacher and student input, and best practice
- Assist teachers and staff in implementing 504 Plans and Health Plans.
- Participate in transition planning for all 504 students transitioning from middle to high school or from high school to post-high school.
- Monitor implementation of 504 accommodations
- Communicate with outside service providers and sending school districts as needed
- Maintain documentation of 504 Plans, accommodations, and student progress.
- Attend Student Services Department Meetings, Scheduling Committee Meetings, and other meetings as necessary.
- Ongoing professional development to keep current with Section 504 Law and best practice.
- Facilitate individual and group counseling, especially for students with counseling goals and/or accommodations in 504 Plans or IEPs
- Self-harm and threat assessment as needed
- Other duties as assigned

Special Education Teacher

The Special Education Teacher will act as a facilitator to support academic, social, behavioral and emotional growth of students. In addition to school counseling responsibilities, the School Counselor/504 Coordinator’s primary responsibilities will be coordinating 504 Plans and School Health Plans for students in grades 6 - 12. 

Qualifications:

- Certified or eligible for certification as a Special Educator in NH.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education
- Experience working with middle and high school students
- Highly organized
- Experience overseeing IEPs, writing goals, and supporting teachers with implementation of IEP goals, modifications and accommodations
- Able to provide direct instruction to individual students, small groups of students, and in class for students
- Able to support teachers in implementing IEP goals and in making appropriate accommodations and modifications for students.
- Familiarity with the Orton-Gillingham Approach, preferred.

Para-Educator

The Founders Academy Public Charter School, grades 6-12, is seeking an experienced
middle/high school para-educator with a passion for helping students to succeed. The mission of the school is to develop educated citizens and leaders who are knowledgeable about our past and who will apply the principles expressed in our founding documents to make wise choices to preserve our liberty while preparing students to use the 21 st century skills to compete in the society we live in.  

The para-educator performs a variety of instructional and/or support duties to assist the school and teachers in instruction, supervision, and education of students with special needs in groups or one-on-one situations. May work with students on an individual basis or in small groups to complete assigned with and keep students on task.  

The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic team player who has a high school diploma, two or more years of college preferred, and who has experience working with students in a middle or high school setting.

Anticipated Opening:  Math/Science Middle School Teacher Full-Time for the 2019-2020 School Year

The Founders Academy Public Charter School seeks a teacher of middle school mathematics and science. Subjects taught in science include integrated science of chemistry, physics, earth science, environmental science, and biology. Founded in 2014, The Founders Academy is a free public charter school for grades 6-12 located at 5 Perimeter Road in Manchester. The school's mission focuses on the virtues of the Founding Fathers, leadership, character building, classical and challenging education in the core subjects and elective courses. Established by the Founders Academy Foundation, the school offers the opportunity for each student to pursue mastery in their studies.
